Joonas, Customer Support Manager

Joonas originally started his career with a heavy interest in languages and teaching, having studied becoming a teacher in University. Later, he felt that he needed to move towards something else, and found a cool start-up that offered Smart Gardens. Five years later, Joonas is still here!

Other fun facts about him? "I've been in a band playing the guitar, I enjoy martial arts, I've been learning how to cook better, and during the home office period I've started to play board games online!" What a combo!

Which aspect of working at Click & Grow do you enjoy the most?

I enjoy working together with my teammates, people who I know I can rely on in tougher times to help out with a task or with a joke to lighten the mood. Similarly, when I check our community on Facebook, sometimes there are problems with plants and I can see that our community gardeners and growers have already written excellent advice on how to tackle somebody's questions. And that makes me feel that our community is comprised of people who think along and who care to make the growing of plants a really cool hobby!

What are some of the most important things you’ve learned at C&G?

One of the most important things I've learned is how to be patient and understanding. There are people in our community from all walks of life, and I do not know and cannot know what they are going through daily. But we've all gathered together in the Click & Grow community for our love of plants and nature, and that is a pretty cool connection to have with people all around the world. If I can help in any way to help make that journey even better then I think that is well worth the effort.

What is your favorite place in nature?

I really prefer areas that remind me of my childhood, so either the seaside with just the waves crashing in the background, or in the deepest parts of the forest with NO sounds at all reaching me, just utter silence and peace.

What is the biggest plant you’ve seen / most amazing plant you’ve had a chance to meet?

Hmm, there have been some weird plants in Botanical Gardens but those seem contained. The weirdest plant in Estonian nature must be the 'scrambled egg slime'. Had to look it up and it is exactly as weird as I remember it being. Just a slime, moving here and there...

Name a song that cheers you up every time:

Think About Things by Daði Freyr. Something about it is just very wholesome and catchy, can't not sing along to it!

How many houseplants do you have?

Totally seasonal but succulents and cacti all around the year, around 5 orchids as well, in different stages of flowering. During the summer I try to grow something to eat on my balcony, like tomatoes or cucumbers. This is all in addition to the Smart Gardens at home. All in all a bunch of greenery!

What is your favorite plant to grow in a Smart Garden?

Basil! Super versatile for me, as I can add it to a lot salads, I can add it to pasta dishes and of course I can make loads of pesto out of it.
