How to Clean The Smart Garden 3 & Smart Garden 9

Cleaning your Click & Grow smart garden is really simple. All you need is a sink, dish detergent, a dishwashing sponge and some paper towels. A dishwasher is optional!

When to clean

The best time to clean your smart garden is before inserting new plant pods. This ensures any existing plant debris and old water is removed. It also lowers the risk of any pests or diseases from previous growth cycles being transferred to your new plants. Your new plant pods will then have a cleaner environment to grow in. By keeping your smart garden clean, you’re helping to keep your plants healthier.

How to clean

Step 1. Detach the lamp from your smart garden.

Step 2. Detach smart garden lid (see tutorial here).

Step 3. Pour the water out of your smart garden.

Step 4. Gently rinse the reservoir with warm (not hot) water.

Step 5. Add a small amount of dish detergent.

Step 6. Rinse again thoroughly.

Step 7. Gently dry your smart garden with a paper towel.

NB. Remember to keep the plastic plant cups (including the u-shaped lids and domes) as these are reusable. You can clean your plant cups using dishwashing detergent, a sponge and warm water.

Tip: Hard water can make the water tank difficult to clean. A warm water and vinegar (4/1) solution will help make the water tank look brand new again.

The Smart Garden 3 and Smart Garden 9 are also dishwasher safe. Just be sure not to use temperatures above 60°C / 140°F. Please note, however, that your plant cups’ wicks are not dishwasher safe. Remove these before putting the plastic parts into your dishwasher. Check out this video tutorial on how to wash your smart garden in a dishwasher:
